Who's Who of Egyptian people, queens and family: Khantkawes

Khantkawes

5th Dynasty

Khantkawes was a queen of Egypt who is called "queen mother". There is some controversy over her, due to the inscription on her huge false door. Junker believes the translation to be 'King of Upper and Lower Egypt', which would mean she claimed to a title only claimed by three other women in the entire history of Egypt. The alternate translation however is that it describes her as the mother of two kings rather than one.
