Dedyet

12th Dynasty

Dedyet was the sister and wife of Amenemhet I, who ruled during the 12th Dynasty. Both the king and queen were commoners and were of some Nubian descent. Dedyet was not the "Great Wife" of the king, Queen Nefru-totenen was. For the king to solidify his position, he had to marry into the Egyptian aristocracy.
