Who's Who of Egyptian people, queens and family: Harkhaf

Harkhaf

6th Dynasty

Harkhaf was an official during the reign of Pepi II. He led an expedition below the cataract and was named governor of that region. On a journey to this region, he found a dancing dwarf and sent a message to the king about his discovery. The king was a child at that time and sent word to Harkhaf detailing the comfort and the care that was to be given to the dwarf. Pepi told Harkhaf that he would be handsomely rewarded if the dwarf arrived healthy and alive. The other governors of the various regions along the Nile were told to extend hospitality and any assistance to Harkhaf and his treasured traveling companion.
