18th Dynasty

Menthuhetep was a provincial mayor (possibly mayor of Armant) who sought to build a new house for himself. He wrote in a letter to a friendly and, as deputy to a 'chief of works', usefully placed official at Thebes, a scribe by the name of Ahmose.
