Title:
Mummy of Henttawy
Description:
A royal princess, Henttawy was married to Pinedjem I, the High Priest of Amun who proclaimed himself king and founded the Twenty First Dynasty. Henttawy was the mother of Pseusennes I. Her face had been stuffed to give a youthful appearance. It was over-packed and her face burst in antiquity. This damage has recently been repaired. Her much damaged mummy was found in the Deir el-Bahri cache; the embalmers had used plaited black string to supplement her sparse hair. She is thought to have been around thirty five when she died.
