JE 6102 (CG 26752) Cairo Antiquities Museum

Material: Terracotta
Size: Height: 8.5 cm
Location: Delta Region
Period: Ptolemaic Dynasty (304-30 BC

Terracotta was used early in Egyptian history, and its use continued into the Greek and Roman periods. This statue depicts a nude male figure crouching on the ground, covered only in a cloak fastened around his neck. Though of Egyptian Greek origin, this statue bears little resemblance to classic Egyptian art. It may depict Aeolus, but this is debatable.
