Title:

Sugar Cane Farmer

Description:

A farmer transporting sugar cane on a donkey. The donkey is even today one of the most common means of transport for short distances for the fellahs (an Arabic word indicating peasants or farmers) of Egypt. Because of its remarkable endurance and its docility, this was the most widely used animal in the caravans that crossed the desert during the time of the pharaohs.
