JE 86036 Cairo Antiquities Museum
Material: Gold and Colored Glass Paste
Size: Width 37.5 cm
Location: Tanis, Tomb of Psusennes I, Burial Chamber of Amenemope
Excavation: P. Montet's Excavations of 1940
Period: 21st Dynasty, Reign of Amenemope (993-984 BC)
Though his funerary treasures were not large, this pendant was placed on the breast of king Amenemope. Actually, the lack of a great trove of objects may have been due to the transfer of his gilded wooden coffin from its original burial site. Many of the items may have been stolen either before or during the move.
