Finger Stalls

Size: Average Length: 5.8 cm
Period: New Kingdom (1550-1069 BC) Finger stalls, with their counterparts for toes, were used in the funerary process to protect the easily broken small bones of those appendages. This tradition, which began in the New Kingdom, dictated that they should be fashioned from gold, which was the flesh of the gods.
