Egypt Victorious in World Travel Awards

September 18, 2011 - Egypt's tourism sector won several awards this weekend when it hosted the World Travel Awards for Africa and the Indian Ocean in the Red Sea coastal city of Sharm El Sheikh.

Egypt took the "best of" in several categories including top attractions, airlines and hotels. The Giza Pyramids beat Victoria Falls, Serengeti National Park and Mt. Kilimanjaro for "Africa's Leading Attraction." Egypt Air was named "Africa's Leading Business Class Airline." And "Egypt's Leading All-Inclusive Resort" went to Sharm El Sheikh's Sierra Resort.

The decision to hold the ceremony in Sharm El Shiekh and the numerous awards won by Egypt gives the country's tourism sector hope that business will soon return to Egypt.
