Maia
Eighteenth Dynasty
A dramatic discovery in 1997 in the New Kingdom cemetery at Saqqara revealed the burial place of the Lady Maia, the royal nurse of King Tutankhamun. Maia was evidently herself of high birth for she was considered suitable to act as wet nurse to the future king. He is shown, sitting on her lap, though fully accoutered in his royal regalia.
