Metjen
3rd Dynasty
Metjen served Djoser in several capacities during the 3rd Dynasty. His father, Anubisemonkeh, was a scribe and a judge. Sometimes known as Methen, he is a famous biographer of that era. He began his career as a scribe and eventually became governor of the Delta region. He also came to rule the eastern area of Fayoum and another nome. He was buried beside Djoser, which showed his honors and rank. The reliefs in his mastaba at Saqqara give details of the social, political and religious aspects of the start of the Old Kingdom.
