Pepy-Nakht

6th Dynasty

Pepy-Nakht was a nobleman that served during the reign of Pepi II. He served as governor of the lands below the First Cataract, which was the Old Kingdom equivalent of the viceroy of Nubia. Details of his expeditions into Nubia were given in his tomb that was found in the cliffs of Aswan. He traveled to Nubia to stop a rebellion of the local tribes there. He murdered nobles and princes of these Nubian tribes. The chiefs were taken back to Memphis to pay homage to the king. Pepy-Nakht also went to the Red Sea to retrieve a body of an Egyptian official who were killed in the coastal establishment. This was the area, which was possibly Kuser, where ships were built for expeditions to Punt. This port was used by the Egyptians during most of the eras.
