Sasenet
Sixth Dynasty
Sasenet was a Commander of soldiers under King Pepy II, whose lover he was said to be, despite the king having been much married. A story current in the Middle Kingdom relates how the king was observed surreptitiously leaving his palace at night and climbing into Sasenet's house, leaving before the dawn. The story makes the point that Sasenet had no wife, a condition unusual for an Egyptian of the time.
