Zawiyet el Maytin in Egypt

Zawiyet el Maytin

There is little left of this ancient city that was the capital of the sixteenth Nome of Upper Egypt called Hebenu. There are the remains of a 3rd Dynasty pyramid, some shards and the face of the tomb of Nefersekheru from the 18th-19th Dynasty. It is a beautiful area and borders one of the largest Muslim cemeteries in Egypt. The area is sometimes called Kom el-Ahmar (red hill).
